This event was postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic but we very much plan to bring it back once we are able to do so safely. We’re excited to continue our partnerships with the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Recreation and Wellness, the School of Business, and the Department of Counselor Education to do this.
We at AVI believe that everyone should feel free and secure to take care of themselves in the ways that feel best.
Often, men are dissuaded from taking steps to care for themselves due to norms of masculinity. These same norms may contribute to health risks and even to the perpetration of violence.
Barbershops are unique spaces that focus on men’s self-care and allow a certain amount of vulnerability. We hope to recreate that space for our community! By creating space where men can think about their wellbeing and engage in self-care, we believe we begin to address these concerns.
